This is the male American Kestrel I mentioned in my last post. They’re supposed to be so common, AND YET I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE, LET ALONE PHOTOGRAPHED ONE, LET ALONE WITH A MEAL. I wish I could have seen the hunt, but beggars can’t be choosers. I always think I see one, then it just turns out to be a dove. They look pretty similar to female kestrels from a distance, if you ask me.

By no means are these very impressive photographs, but I’m extremely happy that I found this guy. (and extremely thankful that he took long enough to eat his meal so I could run to the convenience store and replace my camera batteries)
